No sewing machine? No problem!

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make adorable felt carrots entirely by hand. This beginner-friendly project includes both full-size carrots and cute mini carrots that are perfect for pretend play, Easter baskets, doll food, and handmade gifts.

Whether you’re new to sewing or simply enjoy relaxing hand-stitching projects, these felt carrots are fun, quick, and easy to make.

Brown or black embroidery floss or thread
Polyfill stuffing
Locking Clamp [Buy Here]
Hand-sewing needle
Scissors

Pattern Pieces

✂ Cutting Guide

Cut 1 Carrot Body from orange felt.
Cut 1 Topper Square from green felt.

Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Carrot Topper

Using scissors, cut along the marked lines on the green topper square as indicated on the pattern. Be careful not to cut all the way through. Set aside.

Step 2: Add the Carrot Details

Using brown or black thread, sew running stitches along the marked lines on the carrot body piece to create the carrot texture.

Step 3: Sew the Carrot Body

Fold the carrot body in half with the right side facing out.

Hand sew using whip stitch or blanket stitch

Step 4: Sew a running stitch around the top opening.

Step 5: Stuff the Carrot Fill with polyfill.

Step 6: Create and Insert the Carrot Top

Roll the prepared green topper tightly into a tube shape to create the leafy carrot top.

Insert the rolled topper into the opening at the top of the carrot.

Step 7: Secure the Topper

Pull the running stitch thread to gather the felt snugly around the green topper.

Make several stitches through the gathered top and topper to secure everything in place. Tie off the thread and trim any excess thread.

For mini carrot follow the same step!

Finished!

Your felt carrot is complete and ready for play, decoration, or your felt garden! 🥕✨
