FREE Sewing Pattern

Let’s make an adorable Reversible Tie Collar for an 18" doll! 🎀💕

This little collar is such a fun and easy way to change the look of your doll clothes without sewing an entirely new outfit.

The best part is that there are so many ways to wear it! Wear the bow in the front for a sweet tie-collar look, or turn the collar around and wear the bow in the back for a simple rounded collar in front.

You can also make the two sides from different fabrics, so just flip it over whenever you want another look!

Layer it over a basic doll dress, sleeveless top, or other simple outfit, and suddenly it looks like your doll has a completely different neckline.

How to Sew the Reversible Tie Collar

Cut two 10" pieces of ribbon for the ties.

You can use the same fabric for both pieces, or choose two different coordinating fabrics to make your collar reversible.

Step 2 – Prepare the Ribbon Ties

Place one ribbon at each front corner of the collar, with the ribbon extending toward the inside of the fabric.

Be careful to keep the loose ends of the ribbons tucked inside so you don’t accidentally stitch across them.

Step 5 – Clip the Curves & Trim the Corners

Clip the curved and trim the corners to reduce bulk. Be careful not to cut through your stitching.

This gives the collar a clean, finished look while also closing the turning opening.

And that’s it! 🎀💕

Your doll’s Reversible Tie Collar is finished!

Two Ways to Wear It! 🎀

Now comes the fun part!

Wear the collar with the bow in front for a cute tie-collar look.

Or simply turn it around and wear the bow in back for a clean rounded collar in the front.

And because the collar is reversible, you can flip it over to show your second fabric too!

That means one little collar can give you several different looks. 💕

Mix & Match With Your Doll Clothes

Try layering the collar over a basic sleeveless doll dress or top to instantly change the neckline.

You can make several collars in different fabrics and mix and match them with clothes already in your doll’s wardrobe.

Try:

  • Florals for spring 🌸

  • Strawberries or gingham for summer 🍓

  • Pumpkins for fall 🎃

  • Christmas prints for the holidays 🎄

  • Pastels for everyday outfits 🎀

It’s such a simple little accessory, but it can make an old doll outfit feel completely new.
