How to Make a Jack-O'-Lantern Hat for Your Porch Goose

Step 1: Cut Out the Pattern Pieces

Using the pattern for your goose size, cut:

  • Orange: 2 pieces — one front with a circular face opening and one full back piece

  • Green: 1 or 2 pieces for the pumpkin stem topper

  • Black: Jack-O'-Lantern face pieces

Step 2: Stitch Around the Face Opening

Stitch around the circular face opening on the orange front piece. This helps stabilize the edge and gives it a neat finish.  Then sew along the decorative pumpkin lines, following the pattern markings.

Step 4: Make the Pumpkin Stem Topper

You have two options!

Option 1: Simple Flat Stem

Use one layer of green felt for a quick and easy pumpkin topper.

Option 2: Puffy Pumpkin Stem

Place two green felt pieces together and stitch around the edges, leaving the bottom open.

Stitch around the pumpkin hat, following the marked stitching points on the pattern. Secure the pumpkin stem topper as you sew.
