Looking for a fun and beginner-friendly felt sewing project? This adorable DIY Felt Beetroot is the newest addition to my Felt Food Series! With just a few pieces of felt and a little stuffing, you can create beetroot that’s perfect for pretend play kitchens, farmers’ markets, Montessori learning, doll accessories, and handmade gifts.

Whether you’re just starting your felt food collection or adding another vegetable to your set, this quick project is simple, fun, and satisfying to sew.

🧵 Materials

• Deep Burgundy felt (Buy Here)

• Green felt (Buy Here)

• Embroidery floss/thread

• Polyfill stuffing (BUY HERE)

• Sewing machine

• Hand-sewing needle

• Over casting sewing foot (BUY HERE)

• Scissors

• Pins or clips (optional)

1. Beet Body Cut 1

2. Large Leaf (A) Cut 1

3. Medium Leaf (B) Cut 1

4. Small Leaf (C) Cut 1

Felt Beet Root Sewing Instructions

Step 1 – Sew the Beet Root Body

Place the two body pieces right sides together.

Stitch around the edge, leaving the top opening unstitched. Leaving long tail of thread for sewing the top later.

Step 2 – Stuff

Sew a running stitch around the opening.

Step 3 – Make the Leaves

Cut the leaf pieces according to the pattern.

Stitch along the fold edge. Repeat for all leaves (A, B, and C).

Step 4 – Assemble the Leaf Bundle

Wrap or stitch the stems together to form one bundle.

Step 5 Assemble the beetroot

Insert the leaf bundle into the top opening of the beet root body.

Pull the thread tight to close the opening around the stems. Knot the thread securely and trim the excess.
