Want to add an adorable finishing touch to your porch goose, doll outfit, or handmade gifts? This easy Fabric Bow Tutorial shows you how to sew beautiful bows in four different sizes, making it simple to create the perfect look for any project.

Whether you're decorating a 23-inch porch goose, a 17-inch porch goose, an 14 or 18-inch doll, or even making bows for home décor and gift wrapping, these bows are quick to sew and beginner-friendly.

The pattern includes four finished bow sizes:

🎀 Oversize – 8 inches
🎀 Large – 6½ inches
🎀 Medium – 4½ inches
🎀 Small – 3½ inches

Each bow uses the same sewing method, so once you've made one, you'll be able to create all four sizes with ease.

Pattern Pieces

Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions

Step 1 – Choose the bow size & Cut Your Fabric

Choose the bow size you'd like to make and cut the bow and center band pieces using the pattern.

Step 2 – Make the Center Band

Fold the center band with right sides together and sew along the long edge.

Step 3 – Fold and Sew the Bow

Fold the bow piece in half with right sides together.

Sew around the bow, leaving a 2–3 inch opening along one straight side for turning, Trim the corners clip the curves.

Step 4 – Turn Right Side Out

Turn the bow right side out through the opening.

Use a turning tool or blunt object to gently push out the corners.

Step 5 – Stuff the Bow (Optional)

Lightly stuff the bow with polyester fiberfill, to create a soft, puffy shape.

Step 6 – Close the Opening

Step 7 - Wrap the center piece

Wrap the bow with center piece until you're happy with the shape.

Hand stitch the ends together on the back.

Step 8– Add the Elastic (Optional)

Measure the elastic to fit your doll or goose. For reference, I used:

• 18-inch doll: 10 inches of soft elastic

• 14-inch doll: About 8 inches of soft elastic

• Porch goose: About 6 inches soft face-mask elastic

If you're making the bow for a porch goose or doll, Insert the elastic on the back after closing the center band.

Tie the knot and hand stitches so it stays firmly in place.

Finished!

Your fabric bow is ready to decorate your porch goose, doll outfits, wreaths, gift baskets, or seasonal home décor.
